Superfood Healthy? What does it mean? First of all, and for the most recent 10 years, conventional foods were joined by excellent foods we’ve probably never heard of in a new group of “clean” foods called “superfood.” Seems like, all of a sudden, the craze-induced dash to start finding and devouring these foods to gain a perceived magical superhuman healthy body emerged overnight! Further, everyone is now searching for superhero-like powers in the hopes of being imparted (perhaps) with superpowers of our own! Hell, most people still are perplexed when sorting out the difference between “superfood” and “regular” food. I know I indeed struggle.

What Makes a Superfood Healthy?

Also known as “functional or practical food” in several markets. Because it refers to the food’s ability to affect more targeted functions of the body than just those that aid basic survival. SUPER-FOOD merely consist of the following essential elements:

  • Vitamins
  • Clean – Proteins
  • Fatty Acids
  • Minerals
  • Enzymes
  • Good Fats
  • Antioxidants
  • Amino acids

Quite frankly all the essential elements have disease-fighting properties. Further, the word “super-food healthy” has no official definition, the word merely promotes images of food that boosts overall health and might even reduce disease risk. I indeed have really done quite a bit of reach on this subject and had have read a lot of books about it. HEALTHY LIVING SIMPLY PUT!

What is the diet of the Month? Good question. Many years of yo-yo diets, fad diets and just eating unhealthy on a regular basis. Finally, the light bulb went off, (OK it took me a bit) actually my great grand-parents lived past 100!

YEP, I said 100! Now that I think more about it, their diets consisted home-grown fruits & vegetables from the farm, beef raised on the farm, butter & cheese made from the milk from the cows on the farm,  chickens raised on the farm, eggs from the chickens raised on the farm (I think you get the picture) I swear I can’t make this stuff up. The Berry Barn which is pictured above is a working farm, in my hometown. In fact, my cousins own and run the family farm. Besides, the farm is generations old but still thrives! No one, including me, can put a price tag on that memory!
